Description:
Minkowski 1-7 is a planetary nebula in Gemini. It is faint, but has a high surface brightness. I decided to try to observe it with my 80/1200mm Vixen refractor. I located the field with my trusty U2000.0 (1st. edition) and a DSS printout.
After finding the exact location I could at first not see a trace of the planetary at 38X (32mm Plössl). At 71X (17mm plössl) I could see a faint fuzzy patch next to a faint star. It was elongated and had the overall shape of a candle flame. 133X (9mm ortho) offered the best view of the planetary. I tried higher powers, but they made the planetary too faint.
