Category: Open cluster. Emission nebula.

Description:
Could easily make out 35-40 stars in the cluster. The brightest are
two yellow stars, resembling a double right below the dark pillars.
With a UHC filter the Eagle shape is obvious. The pillars are easily
visible as dark areas and occasionally become clear enough to honestly
see the familiar shapes in all those great long exposures. But they
are only visible with averted vision. Direct vision can only tell
that there is slightly less nebulosity. Overall a real beauty.
