Lew,

Don't feel guily about not watching for meteors. You had good 
intentions the second night but the Sky Gods were against it. This 
time of the year is not particiculary important for meteor 
observations. I often have the same feelings in the opposite 
direction. When I am meteor observing and rates are low I often feel 
that I should be estimating variable stars or sketching a planet. 

But don't even think about looking through your scope on August 12th!
