Hello George and Kevin,

My recorder failed during the peaknight of the 1995 Leonids: we had gone
all the way to Spain by airplane to see it. Lucky for me, I decided to
check after half an our of observations with the radiant barely above
horizon. Still thank God for that move, since up untill that time I never
bothered to do so. Must have been some heavenly inspiration therefore. I
now always check my recorder after a few minutes. But indeed: having once
experienced such a thing, it makes you a little bit paranoid. During
important observations, I now always am vigilous for technical failure.
The nasty trick was of course that all seemed to function well: motor was
turning, LED-light was shining etc, it did reproduce earlier recordings...
But it just didn't record the new data! This is still my worst nightmare
for the Leonid storms....

Marco.

Leonids-'98? A once (twice?) in your lifetime appearance! You can't afford
to miss it!
