Hi!!

I am not sure if this made it to the list or not, so here is some

Count meteors and help NASA Scientists

Tomorrow, Saturday 10 April, NASA scientists plan to launch a weather balloon into the Earth's stratosphere to try and collect meteoroid particles entering the Earth's atmosphere. This is the second part of an experiment that started with the Leonid meteor shower last November. That balloon
launch collected some particles during a maximum time of meteor activity. The launch tomorrow will be during a period when meteor activity is at a minimum. This time of year meteor activity is normally lower as there is relatively less comet debris along this part of the Earth's orbit around the
sun.

We can become involved with this project by doing a meteor count during Saturday evening. A description of how to count meteors as well as how to determine the limiting magnitude of your viewing area is provided. Go to this page to see how to do a meteor count during the mission and send the data
to NASA Scientists:

The launch tomorrow is scheduled for 5pm EDT. The balloon will be carrying a video camera that will
record the ascent into the stratosphere. The camera is remotely operated and will be aimed in diff
erent directions, including outer space, throughout the 2-3 hour mission.
This will be broadcast live over the Internet.
