All right folks . . . let me be at the head of the "stampede" to answer this 
question!  

Willie . . . there isn't any "better" shower!  Aside from the very special 
case of the Leonids this year, you would be hard pressed in any year to find 
a better, more reliable and more entertaining meteor display than the 
Geminids.  They produce excellent hourly rates, many bright meteors and 
observations can start as early as 9 in the evening and continue through the 
rest of the night.  Even for folks who live in brightly-lit cities this is a 
display worth watching. 

    The only drawback is that they occur during the cold month of December 
(heck, it could be worse . . . it could be February)!  Aside from this 
however, if it is clear (and that's the important thing) get on out and 
bundle up.   You will not regret it.
