Re: (meteorobs) Dark Adaption

I have used this trick for some years now - I wear a patch over
my observing eye while going out to my observing site and during
setup, and also while sketching and recording data (meteor data
as well, just to keep one eye optimally adapted) to minimize the
effect of even my dim red headlamp (both hands free all the time!).

P.S. Battery-operated headlamps are great. You can find them for
$20-30 at REI and other outdoor gear oriented shops, probably even
cheaper on websites such as www.rei.com, www.rei-outlet.com, and
wwwdot sierratradingpost.com (a long-time favorite of mine). A fair
amount of my mountaineering gear (lamp, clothes, sleeping bags,
bivouac sack, sleeping pad) is very useful for observing as well...
