(meteorobs) IMO Visual Meteor Report (GRALE), Night of 21-Feb-2001
Note that while you are actually under the night sky, you only have to
record a few basic pieces of information: times while you're ACTUALLY
observing (as opposed to breaks, etc.), your Limiting Magnitude (this
is CRITICAL, and should be done every half hour or so), and the basics
for each meteor you see (magnitude and shower are the absolute musts!)
Also, if your sky ever has any clouds or other obstructions, you must
note those while you're observing (say, "sky 10% cloudy from 2:15 to
3:05am... not really very complex!)
Otherwise, much of what you see below is really optional information
that I CHOOSE to record (DCV - Distance from my Center of Vision that
I first saw the meteor, Speed, plotting information, times for each
meteor, etc.) Anything else can be calculated (e.g., by that spread-
sheet that I mentioned in my last email!)
And of course, no matter whether this seems hard or easy to you now,
you know that if anyone EVER has questions - about the observing or
the reporting - the friendly folks of 'meteorobs' are always here!
Well, one more report and I'm done with my February data!
Clear skies,
Lew Gramer
