I observed from Mt. Wilson, Milky Way slightly visible due to moderate light
pollution in North (south was completely hopeless).
I saw some nice neg magnitude Perseids, with persisitent trains. (My bank of
all-sky cameras should have caught them). I fell asleep in the am hrs,
3am-4am. So, I possibly lost some meteors on film. I did see 2 successive
meteors, spaced 3 min apart in the same part of the sky: towards N NE horizon
around 3am'ish (I have to check my notes). These 2 should have been recorded
on the sam neg.
I wasn't that impressed, I saw a better show last year...from my front lawn in
light polluted metro-LA! I saw some yellowish meteors, didn't see any super
bright ones from Mt. Wilson that had any interesting color or terminal bursts.
What time did you begin to observe earth grazers? I got to my site ~9pm (a bit
late, dark already). I got my cameras running at 9:50 pm, so I would have lost
any meteors up to that point. I plan on going out tonight (the predicted max
is 9am PDT, Sunday), so tonight will be > 12 hrs after. I don't know if it
would be worth it. Is anyone else observing tonight, from the west coast USA?
I;ll be at a technical conference, so there is a good incentive to NOT go &
observe (do my work thing).
