RE: (meteorobs) Radio software

If you have a 32bit system (WIN95/98 or NT4 ...) and a sound card and are
receiving a narrow carrier (TV-video carrier for example), you can try our
MAnalyzer. With it you can display (in a 1024*768 screen) a full 24 hours of
100Hz width channel spectrum (several narrow slices on the secreen) and it
makes automatic hour and 10minute counts (at different (maximum)strength
classes) and saves on disk. You (others too) can download it from Ilkka
Yrjola's page:
http://www.sci.fi/~oh5iy/
You can also see there examples of the screen display.

This program is free.
The version (there are actually two versions, one ignoring the weakest class
in the hour counts), you get from Ilkka's site, has the property of
reguiring a 1.3 second dead time, before a new event. Otherwise they are
counted as the same. If you receive a strong station at low (about 60MHz)
frequency, this may add too much of dead time, leading to saturation in the
ocunts "too soon". What I use now myself dosn't have such limit. If you
like, you can test with the version from Ilkka's site, and if you find the
1.3s reguired delay harmful, you can get another version directly from me.
There are further plans to allow the user adjust the delay, but I don't seem
to have time for this in the immediate future.

Best wishes, Esko

Can anyone suggest different software for radio meteor observing using a
pc? I've tried :

Meteor for DOS -- complains that my processor is too fast (???) and uses
the whole monitor for the top third of the screen - so I can't do
anything.

wmeteor - refuses to work at all.

r_meteor - is okay, but i object on principle to "registering" the program
for $30: come on, it's a bit excessive, isn't it?

MOP - all sorts of errors

Any suggestions as to any other software?

Thanks
