(meteorobs) Perseids Pre-max observing success...

Hi all,

Just a short note to mention that I was able to get in several
productive nights of meteor observing prior to Perseids max. the
weather here has been very dry and clear (I was out Aug 6/7, 7/8, 8/9
and 10/11). Two of those nights were spent at the La Verendrye
Forest Reserve (located north-west of Ottawa) with incredibly
pristine dark skies (limit mag 7.3). Meteor rates very enjoyable
under such dark skies. Quite a few bright meteors, with some
fragmenting fireballs.

I am in the process of decoding the tapes, all while trying to catch
up on some long overdue sleep too ;> I'll post the reports soon.

Tonight (August 11/12) is looking quite promising with clear
transparent skies just west of Ottawa, and possibly also the first
half of Monday evening.

Hope everyone else enjoys some clear skies for Perseids max!
