What techniques or equipment do the experienced storm chasers use to
give one-minute intervals while counting?  This is something I haven't
needed to consider for telescopic observations, but I'll be watching
visually this year.

To cut down on the weight I'm going to buy a smaller recorder than I
took to La Palma in 1990.  Are there models/makes/features to look out
for or avoid?
