(meteorobs) Observation December 23/24, 2003 from Slovenia

Hi All,

it cleared up nicely in Tuesday afternoon so I decided to check for
the remaining Ursid activity as well as that of Coma Berenicids.
The temperatures were low at -9 C with moderately strong winds
from the north.

The skies were nice and transparent with a limiting magnitude just
above +6.5 at the start of observations. The activity was good for
the first hour with 10 meteors in total, mostly faint.
The transparency degraded somewhat during the second hour but
the meteor activity remained. As much as six Coma Berenicids
were recorded during this hour. The highlight of the night was a
yellow magnitude -3 sporadic (northern apex) fireball in Leo, less
than 5 degrees in length, obviously foreshortened. It left a
persistent train that lasted for 50 seconds.

Only a single Ursid was seen in two hours Teff.

Clear skies!
Javor
