THIS IS TOOOO MUCH! Two stars in outburst now. U GEM
is a classic, so if you get the chance, check it out.
It gets very bright.

I'll be out swapping between stars all night! ;-)

0749+22 U Gem appears to be in outburst according to these
observations received by the AAVSO:

 FEB 26.1432 13.5   JM    CCDV
 FEB 26.2528 13.7   KMA
 FEB 26.6560 12.8   MDY00
 FEB 26.7576 12.6   BVE   Y
 FEB 26.7639 12.8   RWG   YUM

 MDY00  YUTAKA MAEDA           NAGASAKI, JAPAN
 BVE VAN BALLEGOIJ, ERWIN HEESCH, NETHERLANDS
 JM JAMES, ROBERT A. LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO, USA
 KMA KOMOROUS, MIROSLAV A. LONDON, ONTARIO, CANADA
 RWG    RENZ, WOLFGANG         KARLSRUHE, GERMANY

 Our colleague Dr. John Cannizzo, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center,
will be observing U Gem's outburst with NASA's Rossi X-Ray Timing
Explorer (RXTE) satellite.
Good coverage throughout the outburst and after the star returns to
minimum will be crucial in correlating his RXTE observations.

 Both visual and CCD observations are encouraged. Visual observers
should note the that the 124 comparison star on the AAVSO charts
dated 1997 may be variable according to research done by B. Sumner
using ASAS-3 data. Avoid using the comparison if possible.

 CCD observers should observe in V first and B second and choose
from these comparison stars:

 AAVSO
 Chart
 ID      V     Verr    B-V   B-Verr
 85     8.62  0.01    0.33   0.01   +
 114   11.41  0.006   0.490  0.007  ++
 138   13.89  0.005   0.513  0.003  ++

 + V data from ASAS-3 and B-V from Tycho 2
   (Tycho-2 error is estimated)
 ++ from A. Henden (USNO)

Clear skies!
